Biography
Ruby is a Yorkshire born Soprano and recent first-class graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, currently under the tutelage of Sandra Dugdale.
Her operatic roles include Belinda/1st Witch Dido and Aeneas (Bradford Festival Choral Society), Juno The Fairy Queen (RNCM Opera), La Contessa d’ Almaviva (scenes) Le Nozze di Figaro (RNCM Opera), Aenchen (scenes) Der Freischutz (RNCM Opera), Susanna (scenes) Le Nozze di Figaro (RNCM Opera), Kate The Yeoman of the Guard (Bingley Gilbert and Sullivan Society) and Chorus The Pilgrim’s Progress (RNCM Opera).
Since leaving the RNCM in July 2021 Ruby has performed regularly as a concert soloist for various choirs across Yorkshire. Her performed repertoire includes Handel Messiah (St Peters Singers), Vivaldi Gloria (Bradford Chorale) alongside a solo recital with Sheffield Oratorio Chorus in June 2022.
Whilst at university Ruby performed as a member of the chorus in Rameau In Convertendo (RNCM Chamber Choir), Rossini Petite Messe Solenelle (RNCM Chamber Choir) and in a solo recital as part of the RNCM Songsters Lunchtime recital series. She was also chosen as the RNCM’s representative at the 2018 Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary.
In 2020 Ruby won the Durrant French Song prize at the David Clover Festival of singing. She was also named as a winner the same year of the Pendle Young Musicians Bursary, a competition that supports musicians from the North of England.
Upcoming solo engagements include Inga Young Frankenstein (Kings Hall), Rutter Requiem (Sheffield Oratorio Chorus) and Todd Mass in Blue (Morley Music Society).
